ANA!!

Posted 19 Jun, 2011 10:22 PM by Ron

Well, as most of you know, Ana beasted the memory verse challenge.  I want to encourage all of you to start reading Hebrews, 1 and 2 Peter devotionally.  It will give you a good feel for the material and will really help you identify questions early on about the material.  I hope to start posting weekly to give you little insights.  I'm hoping to have a kick-off party late July and starting the second week of August.  :)  If you have questions before that, or want to keep working on memory, we're always available to help!

MEMORY CHALLENGE!

Posted 22 May, 2011 09:57 PM by Ron

First off--congrats to Kayleigh for making a team going to NYC!  This is the first time a kankakee first quizzer has made it to a regional team since we've been coaching!

Several of you have asked about starting Hebrews and study schedules.  I don't want you to get burnt out half way through the year.    So--here's what I propose:  I will make a memory verse schedule--so you can learn ALL of the memory verses in June.  We'll have a memory verse challenge shortly after NYC (we'll let Kayleigh officiate!).  THEN--EVERYONE takes a break until August 1st.  That way, it'll be easy to relearn the verses as we go through the year, and it'll be a fun, objective way to get started.

If you would like the CHALLENGE SCHEDULE and rules--Let me know and i'll get it to you.

I hope to set up the fall schedule and when we'll start by the middle of June.

Hey everyone.

I am going to be ordering quiz portions most likely on Friday afternoon.  If you're interested, they are $10 for the big ones, $2 for the little black ones.  Let me know if you want one!

Great Job!

Posted 08 Apr, 2011 10:56 AM by Ron

Hey everyone!  We're just a few hours away from finals and I just wanted to thank all of you for your hard work all year!

First--Quizzers--way to stay motivated and finish strong!

Parents--thanks for driving, running fundraisers, and supporting our program.

Then to the coaching team-Ryan, Lori, Daley, and Scott--thanks so much for the countless hours you put in to attending practices and quizzes,  coming up with creative ways to challenge the quizzers, spending nights on floors, hours in cars,  and most importantly being examples of what it looks like to follow Jesus.  You are an amazing team, and I am so thankful for the things each of you do to make our program strong!

For those of you who will make a district team this week--congratulations!  For everyone else--its time to take a break for a little bit.  Next year, we'll be studying Hebrews, 1 and 2 Peter.  The Quiz advisory council has ruled that we will continue to use the 1984 version of the NIV.  The memory verse list is already available on youthquiz.com. Spiral bound portions will be available at regional celebrate life at Wisner.  (they go quickly).

I would suggest to all fo you to take a break--not from studying scripture--but from studying quiz material.

We will be having an end of the year party soon (details coming in the next week or so).  We will also probably have one party over the summer, as we will officially start again the first week of august.

Again, I so proud of each of you for committing to this season of quizzing, and getting to know Jesus better through the gospel of John.
